The Associated Press recently interviewed the mother of late Jam Master Jay (born Jason Mizell), Connie Mizell-Perry, who revealed that she was never really down with his music: "I didn't know anything about that. He was Jason to me," she said. The article was of course primarily focused on Jay's murder and how the shooter has yet to be found even 16 months later. Though police speculate that the shooting could've been tied to Jam Master Jay being riddled with debt, Jay's mother supports no such claims. Ms. Mizell-Perry, who says she was never even called by the police after the shooting, told AP, "I never dreamed anyone would want to kill him." and that the killer is possibly "someone he knew very well."
