Alicia, Andre Snag Film Roles
It's no surprise that two artists behind two of the biggest records of the past year are up for big-time Hollywood roles. AP reports that Alicia Keys has signed on to play piano prodigy Philippa Schuyler, a prodigal pianist born in 1939 whose biracial background hampered her quest to be accepted for her talents. Halle Berry is producing the as-yet-untitled film. Meanwhile, OutKast's Andre "3000" Benjamin will star in another racially-charged musical drama that's being produced by Element Films, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Dre is also clamoring to play Jimi Hendrix in the Hughes brothers' planned biopic of the late rock legend, but the project has yet to be green-lighted by the Hendrix family.
