Beenie Man Banned

Dancehall staple Beenie Man was canned from a concert associated with the MTV Video Music Awards this weekend in Miami due to anti-gay rants in his music. The Jamaican artist issued an apology earlier this month for reciting anti-gay lyrics in past songs, including "Bad Man Chi Chi Man (Bad Man, Queer Man)," but that still hasn’t stopped angry gay advocate groups from getting his shows cancelled throughout Europe. Surprisingly, Beenie Man's sentiments aren't all that uncommon in the dancehall world, reggae star Buju Banton is currently under investigation following allegations he was involved in a homophobic attack in Jamaica.
