It appears that the dust is still settling at Def Jam this week. If things go as planned Island Def Jam honcho Antonio "L.A." Reid, will name his newest high level executive at the label recently retired rapper Jay-Z. It turns out Reid sought out the 'Jigga man' to replace the recently departed Kevin Liles. According to The New York Post, Reid's overtures to Jay-Z are to ensure that he doesn't join with Lyor Cohen's Warner Music Group (Cohen left Def Jam earlier this year for Warner). Jay-Z would be a big get for Def Jam, ensuring credibility of the label with the hip hop world.
