Mos Def is known for his righteous raps, but some of us are still sleeping on his acting skills. But not the Golden Globe Awards. Today, the organization that honors achievements in film and television, nominated Mos Def for “Best Performances by an Actor in a Mini-series or Motion Picture Made for Television” for his role in “Something the Lord Made.” Which is a HBO series, which premiered May 30, 2004, about two men - a white surgeon and a exceptional black carpenter turned lab technician (played by Mos Def) - who ignored the racial structures of the Jim Crow South and pioneered the field of heart surgery together. Jamie Foxx was also recognized in a big way for his recent acting roles, he received a total of three nominations. One, for his portrayal of Ray Charles in “Ray.” Two, for his supporting acting role in “Collateral” and three, for his performance in “Redemption.”
