The FBI may have closed the books on their the investigation into the death of Notorious B.I.G. but lawyers for the slain rapper's family aren't giving up without a fight. The family claims it has previously sealed search warrant affidavits that could connect the his murder to rap mogul, Marion "Suge" Knight. On Monday, the attorneys released the documents in which Knight allegedly told a confidential informant that he had conspired to kill B.I.G., according to The Los Angeles Times. B.I.G.'s family has filed a wrongful death suit against the Los Angeles Police Department claiming that Knight ordered the 1997 murder of the rapper and that some former LAPD officers were involved in covering up the murder and hindering an investigation. Lawyers for the family claim that they will be able to prove that an LAPD officer was likely involved in the rapper's death. The crux of the case is that Knight was helped by rogue LAPD officer David A. Mack in organizing the killing of B.I.G., but last week, Mack was dismissed from the suit, which now focuses on the LAPD. Jury selection in the trial began today and opening arguments are set to take place later this week.
