The Roots will stage theirs in early July in New York, while
Dupri's will take place in Atlanta in mid-July, but details on performances by
Fat Joe, Yellowcard and Pete Yorn and five other acts will be kept secret, and revealed only through email and text messages, once interested fans register at
www.fusionflashconcerts.com or text the word "Go" to 35274 (flash) on their mobile phones, to register as an "insider." "Flash Alerts" sent by Cingular will let fans know when their favorite artists will be appearing in a park, club, pier or parking lot near them, and will allow them access to a premier viewing area at the performance.
“We’re really excited to get this summer-long party started in New York,” said The Roots’ ?uestlove. “With our music fusing together an audience of hip hop, rock, jazz and funk fans, we’re a perfect fit for this one-of-a-kind concert series.”
Aside from the concerts themselves, the Fusion Flash Concerts camp will feature on their web site, exclusive video, a tour blog, concert reviews, a mash-up remix contest, ten music downloads, and the change to win a new car and VIP access to shows. They also plan to release a compilation album of participating artists.
