It appears as if the much-hyped Atlanta rapper, Young Jeezy, has earned his bragging rights. His debut, Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101 landed in the number two Billboard spot, selling 172,000 CDs. The album most likely would have earned top-ranking status had it not had to contend with Now That’s What I Call Music! 19 — the hit compilation series featuring music by Gwen Stefani, Cold Play, Eminem, and Destiny’s Child.
Buoyed by the release of her latest single, “Shake It Off,” Mariah Carey’s The Emancipation of Mimi remains in the Top 5, pushed down from the #2 spot to #3 by the Young Jeezy release. Other urban music artists rounding out the top 10 of The Billboard 200 include:
