According to
The Advocate Banton is out on bail after being charged with assault on six Jamaican men suspected of being gay. Banton, who was released on September 21 after paying $50,000 bail (in Jamaican funds) and pleading not guilty, was allegedly part of a group that barged into a home in Kingston on June 24, 2004 and attacked the six individuals.
Banton's track, "Boom Bye Bye," has also reportedly been under fire from some gay rights groups who believe the track encourages gay bashing and murder.
Banton returned to court today. No word yet on the verdict.
