Fats Domino Found in New Orleans

The 77-year-old legendary R&B singer was apparently picked up by a rescue boat on Monday [August 29], brought to the Superdome, and put on a bus to an evacuee triage center at Louisiana State University's basketball arena, according to E! News. On Thursday [September 1], his daughter, Karen Domino White, identified her father in a photo taken by the New Orleans Times-Picayune, which showed Domino being helped out of a boat by rescue workers.

Master P's home was wrecked, and he has been having trouble locating his uncle, father-in-law and sister-in-law. P has formed a charity, Team Rescue, and is organizing a "Save Our Hood" concert and benefit album.

In the upcoming September 2005 issue of OZONE Magazine, David Banner spoke out about the role artists can play in helping victims of the disaster.

"There’s a lot more we can do as artists," he said, "but I’m really, really proud of the rappers who have stepped up to help. I can honestly say that we’ve concentrated so much on helping because it’s in our hearts and it’s the right thing to do, but we don’t get the publicity for it. We’re gonna have to make sure people see the efforts these rappers are making, because every time somebody gets shot or something negative happens at one of our concerts, they make sure they publicize it.”
