right The movement, intended to empower America's poor and disenfranchised, will take place on the 10th anniversary of the Million Man March, on the National Mall in Washington D.C. The movement will focus on mobilizing men, women and youth into an effective national movement with the goal of eliminating poverty and injustice in American society. Organizers of the movement hope to help poor people learn to help themselves, beginning with the knowledge that there is strength in numbers.
“I always looked at hip-hop as a vehicle to educate, to enlighten, to inspire," said Common in a statement. "If we make money at this music game, we can contribute to our communities, create jobs in our communities and really help make a difference. Participating on October 15 will draw much needed attention to these issues.”
