Kwame Jackson Auctioned Off to Benefit Hurricane Victims

Jackson will take part in the auction/comedy show organized by the New York Chapter of Spelman College's National Alumna Association in conjunction with members of the NAACP. The fundraising event will take place at New York City's Club Blvd on Wednesday, October 5 from 6:30pm-11:30pm and will raise money for Spelman College's Hurricane Katrina Emergency Scholarship Fund and the NAACP's Disaster Relief Fund.

right “I am honored to be able to participate in this fundraiser to help students displaced by Hurricane Katrina, and grateful to be working with Spelman College, one of the premier academic institutions in this country, and the NAACP, the preeminent civil rights organization in the nation,” Jackson said in a statement.

Participants at the event will be able to donate to the education of more than 100 Spelman College students impacted by the hurricane in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. Money raised will go towards the more than $1.5 million needed to help these displaced students, including 34 whose homes were completely destroyed.

Tickets are a $15 donation and non-ticket holders will be asked to make a $20 donation the evening of the event.
