“Felicia Fox [from 100.7 The Beat] was playing my song and it was close to being in power rotation” T-Pain said in a statement. “They were playing it so much it had gotten all the way up to Atlanta, and Akon’s brother heard it.”
The music was then passed on to Akon who wanted to sign the up-n-comer. According to T-Pain, some of his peers questioned the singing.
“They felt like [Akon] was doing a good thing for me but everybody was afraid that he signed me to get me out of the picture because I sounded like him. It was all kind of rumors," T-Pain said in a statement. "It took so long so I was like I don’t care no more, so I started listening to myself.”
T-Pain's debut, Rappa Ternt Sanga, will hit shelves on December 6. Click here to listen to "I'm Sprung."
