50, Mariah Lead Nominees for Billboard Music Awards

right The R&B songstress, along with modern renaissance man 50 Cent, led the pack of nominees for the 2005 Billboard Music Awards, which will air on December 6, live from Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena, according to Billboard.com. Carey earned seven nominations for her album The Emancipation of Mimi, while 50 came in just a notch ahead with eight nominations for The Massacre. Both are up for Artist of the Year and Album of the Year.

Fantasia, The Game and Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz each earned four nominations, while Gwen Stefani, Eminem and Destiny's Child were finalist in three categories each. Snoop Dogg featuring Pharrell, Mario and Ciara were each nominated for two awards. Stefani, Fantasia and the Game are all up for New Artist of the Year. Kanye West will be honored with the 2005 Artist Achievement Award.

LL Cool J is set to host the event, which will feature performances by R. Kelly, Stefani and Daddy Yankee with Pharrell. Several surprise collaborations are also expected onstage.
