Darryl "DMC" McDaniels Searches For Birth Mother On New VH1 Show
left However, McDaniels thought true happiness could only be found in meeting his birth mother for the first time. The 35-year-old hip hop pioneer’s reality series, DMC: My Adoption Journey premiered this past Saturday (Feb. 25) on VH1.
Through the series DMC will take viewers on a journey to track down his birth mother and other family he never knew existed.
After the tragic death of Jam Master Jay, DMC suffered through a deep depression. He thought tracking down his other family would be an important and purposeful next step in his life.
DMC: My Adoption Journey captures four emotional months in McDaniels’ mission. DMC’s poignant journey even inspired him to record music, as he will release his first ever solo album, Checks Thugs and Rock ‘n Roll on March 14.
