In recent years, the Jam Session has featured performers including musicians Alicia Keys, Anthony Hamilton, Omar Epps and Musiq, as well as actors like Tom Cruise, Sharon Stone and Sanaa Lathan.
"Most industry parties are a little too stuffy and are limited to performances by one or two artists. We created this event in order to put the focus back on the music and give major artists as well as new talent a chance to take part in a business and musical exchange," The Roots founder and drummer Ahmir "?uestlove" Thompson said in a statement.
The event is also being produced in association with Live For Darfur, a worldwide campaign co-chaired by Cheadle and Djimon Hounsou, that rallies high-profile artists to help raise awareness of the crisis in Darfur. For more info, visit www.savedarfur.org.
