Russell and Kimora Lee Simmons Split

left A rep for Kimora Lee Simmons confirmed to PEOPLE Magazine that the fashionista and her hip hop business mogul husband, Russell Simmons, are splitting. Russell responded with his own statement to PEOPLE today. "Kimora and I will remain committed parents and caring friends with great love and admiration for each other,” he said. “We will also continue to work side by side on a daily basis as partners in all of our businesses." The now former couple have two daughters: Ming Lee Simmons, 6, and Aoki Lee Simmons, 3, who both model for Kimora’s Baby Phat Clothing line. Kimora and Russell met in November 1992 during New York City's Fashion Week, when she was 17 and he was 35. They were married by Simmons’ brother, Joey "Reverend Run" Simmons of Run DMC, in St. Bart's on Dec. 20, 1998.

Today's announcement comes just a month after Kimora insisted that she and Russell weren't going to break up any time soon.
