left Carey has teamed up with the soda corporation to write, record, and produce 20 original ring tones, which will be available through the Pepsi Cooltones and Motorola Phones promotion. The poly-octave songbird will debut the partnership next month in a national commercial directed by Paul Hunter, whose credits include vehicles for D’Angelo, the Notorious B.I.G., and most recently Carey’s latest single, “Say Somethin’.” This Pepsi deal makes Carey the first artist to score exclusive music for the carbonated muse in a ring tone promotion of this kind. Banking in on the lucrative success of her latest album The Emancipation of Mimi, Pepsi Smash has also tapped into the soda/pop union, booking the singer for a concert at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles on July 29th. The concert is set to jumpstart a highly anticipated tour for the platinum-certified star.
