Melee Overshadows Floyd Mayweather's Win Over Zab Judah

Mayweather was effectively winning the 10th, when Judah nailed him with a hard left to the groin, followed by a rabbit punch after he had Pretty Boy doubled over in pain. left At that point Roger Mayweather, Floyd’s uncle, rushed in the ring and Yoel Judah, Zab’s father, stepped between the ropes and threw a punch at Roger. Referee Richard Steele tried to hold each corner at bay, while Las Vegas security flooded the ring to stop the near riot at the Thomas & Mack Center. “It was kind of scary watching it unfold,” says Joe Santoliquito, Managing Editor of The Ring Magazine, the self-proclaimed Bible of Boxing. “Richard Steele and the Las Vegas security did a great job because it potentially could have been very dangerous. “The number of the entourage (in each fighters’ corner) needs to be limited.” Since Saturday’s fight, Zab has claimed that Roger Mayweather choked him during the melee and Don King believes that the decision must be overturned to a disqualification of Floyd. The Nevada Athletic Commission is currently withholding the purses of each fighter, until a review of the bout is completed on Thursday (April 13). The $5 million Mayweather is slated to receive and the $1 million due to Judah may be in jeopardy.
