Despite Idlewild being set in the 1930s, Big Boi told Billboard.com last year to expect hip hop as the main music in the film. "It's hip hop. It's OutKast. It is what we've been doing for years," Big Boi said. "Some songs have a little more piano or whatever, but the whole project was a natural progression from their 2003 double album (Speakerboxx/The Love Below). It was like, where do we go from here?" right Outkast recruited prolific artists like Macy Gray and Patti LaBelle and actors like Ben Vereen, Terrence Howard, Cicely Tyson and Faizon Love to make guest appearances in Idlewild. The soundtrack for Idlewild is scheduled for an Aug. 22 release. The first single from the soundtrack compilation, "Mighty O," was leaked to the Internet as a recording from a radio station in Atlanta two weeks ago.
