The New York Times is reporting that the Manhattan district attorney's office has opened an investigation into Star’s threats and outlandish on-air comments about Envy’s 4-year-old daughter. "Where does this kid go to school? I got 500 bucks for that information. Oh, yes, I'll come for your kids," Star said in reference to Envy’s daughter live on the air, before being fired on Wednesday (May 10). “Yes, I disrespect your seed. If you didn’t hear me, I said I would like to do an R. Kelly on your seed. On your little baby girl.” Statements like the aforementioned have also caused New York Police Commissioner, Raymond Kelly, to instruct detectives to determine whether Star’s comments amounted to a hate crime. New York City Councilman Peter Vallone Jr., though, wants to take the investigation into Troi Torain’s (Star) comments, one step further. right “We hope that very soon this animal will be behind bars where he belongs,” Vallone told the New York Daily News, alongside Gia Casey, Envy’s wife. “He needs to do jail time for this.” Still, despite the investigation, Star has maintained that he is sincerely sorry for his comments. "Although he responded on air to these threats in an inappropriate manner, Star would like to assure DJ Envy's wife and family that they have no reason to feel threatened or insecure, as Star never intended to do them any harm," Benjamin Brafman, Star’s lawyer, said in a statement to the New York Times. "The statements Star made in response, while inappropriate, were however made under great duress and at a time when he was fearful for his safety and the safety of members of his staff." In 2001, Star was suspended from WQHT (Hot 97) for playing sound effects of an airplane crashing and people screaming, when reporting about singer Aaliyah's tragic death.
