After heavy anticipation, his debut album,
Back To Tha Future, is slated for a late August, early September release.
“I want my album to be like crack. I feel like I got the most anticipated album of the decade,” Millz recently told
Vibe.com. “Like everybody (MC) dropped, so who else you waiting for? I don’t know too many other rappers that you could say, ‘Oh I like him, he hot, I’m still waiting for him to drop.’”
Millz’
Back To Tha Future features production from the likes of
Scott Storch,
DJ Khaled,
Cool and Dre,
Swizz Beatz and fellow Harlem native
Ron Browz, who produced
Nas’ notorious “Ether” track.
For Millz, hip hop has been a game of patience. In 2003, he gained instant notoriety in New York City for his smash street record, “No, No, No." However, despite the record being on steady New York City radio rotation, Millz didn’t get the support he felt he deserved from his own label.
“
Warner Brothers didn’t really get behind the record,” Millz said. “They really didn’t get behind the remix to, “No, No, No.” I had
Cam’ron and
T.I. on the record, early and they didn’t really get behind the record. We just started getting frustrated and after a while, it became sour.
right “It just became a sour situation, but I really think if the album would of came out then, the kid could of possibly been that dude right now. At the same token, I don’t feel I was ready. So, I felt like everything happened for a reason.”
However, now Millz feels as though, he is ready. Millz has gained industry co-signs from the likes of
Dipset,
Fat Joe and
Jadakiss, who is featured on Millz’ single, “Bring It Back.”
"The time is now. That’s my new slogan- The time is now,” Millz said. “That’s the new
Vote or Die. The time is now. I’m trying to take it back when everybody was cool, when it was about getting money, it was about being nice, being fresh, you reppin’ your hood and that’s it. That’s really what hip-hop was about.”
