America’s Next Hip Hop Stars.
The competition will have 12 solo MCs and six group finalists performing their favorite hip hop songs or original material. Just like the original
American Idol, viewers will have an opportunity to vote for their favorite performers via phone or online. The unsigned up and coming rappers will be competing for a recording contract and $50,000.
right "I want to do it because hip-hop is the key to our culture," Master P, the host of the show, told
Yahoo! Music. "Hip-hop is the way out for our kids, and this is the way to show the world what our culture is really about."
Master P has already assembled an impressive celebrity judge lineup, which includes the likes of
Snoop Dogg,
Paul Wall and his son
Romeo.
Master P is currently deciding whether his show will fit best on cable, network television or pay-per-view. P is no stranger to reality television, as he recently showed America how he two-steps on
ABC’s Dancing With The Stars series.
