“I’m at $1.5 right now, $1.5 million. The deal is in progress. It’s looking crazy now,” Papoose told New York City-based
Hot 97 radio host
Angie Martinez this afternoon (June 14), about the latest offer on the table from an undisclosed record label. “Everything is in the works. The decision is coming real soon. My album is basically done.
“I got a lot of joints. I got a lot of heat. I’m ready to go.”
In April, Pap told
Vibe.com that he had turned down a lot of label deals, while waiting for the apt one to come along. However, now, the witty and deft narrator says he’s about to make a deal official.
right With the steady guidance of
The Drama King DJ Kay Slay and
Busta Rhymes, Pap has plastered New York City streets with his mixtapes. He told Martinez that he can’t even keep count of how many mixtapes he’s jumped on.
Although Pap, who cites the pioneering likes of
Kool G Rap,
Rakim and
LL Cool J as his main influences, didn’t disclose the name of the record label he’s in heavy negotiations with, he did assure fans that “Get Right,” featuring Busta will be included on his debut compilation.
“Get Right,” which was produced by
Swizz Beatz, was recorded shortly after Pap spit a verse on Busta’s, “Touch It” remix.
Pap is also in the process of recording a track with Green Lantern and R&B crooner Akon.
