In honor of the slain rapper’s birthday, a benefit/birthday bash is scheduled to take place tonight at the
Aladdin in Las Vegas. In addition, the likes of
Uncle Luke,
Pitbull,
Grand Scheem,
Benzino,
Mike West from the
Outlawz and
Makaveli-Branded clothing line Vice President
Rick Edwards will hit downtown Miami club
Metropolis in a separate tribute and celebration tonight.
“Tupac is the greatest artist of all time from a musical standpoint, but beyond just musically,” Edwards exclusively told
Vibe.com. “Everything he did as an artist from his poetry to his movies, his acting…I’m very much honored to be in the position that I’m in to be one of the people who helped started
Makevli-Branded."
In addition to the tribute tonight, Edwards is also in the process of ironing out the finer details for the
Tupac Legacy Tour.
The 25-city nationwide tour, which is scheduled to begin in October and end in mid-November, will feature primetime MCs, as they perform some of Shakur’s classic songs and cuts of their own. Although the artists on the tour haven’t been officially announced as of press time, Edwards is excited about adding to Tupac’s legend.
right “To do the
Tupac Legacy Tour, continue his legacy and be a part of history is something I can’t even put into words,” says Edwards.
As for the
Makaveli-Branded line, exclusive Tupac sneakers hit specialty stores across the nation earlier this month.
“One of the greatest to ever do it,” said New York City-based
Hot 97 DJ
Mister Cee about Tupac, as he dedicated his entire
Throwback at Noon hour to playing Shakur’s classic tracks.

Pac was more than a rapper, he was and is also a social crusader. Listen to 'keep ure head up', 'changes', smile for me', dear mama and a host of his songs - then u'll know.
Pac had his own share of mistakes (as we all do) but i believe he strived to lift own spirits up.
makaveli d don, keep ure head up until d end of time.

Rich is right. 2pac will always be number 1. 50 Cent, T.I, Jim Jones, Mike Jones, Paul Wall, ya right!! Those rappers are whack. The beat is too loud and your lyrics suck! Ice Cube, Biggie, D.O.C, 2pac. That's who you need to hear.

Rich says:
Tupac Shakur was definitely a great rapper, he was clear (he enunciated), he had a good beat, he wasn't offensive and it sounded good. So many new rappers that peform for these award shows have no rhythm, it sounds like a song that is out of sync. Just a bunch of yelling with no talent.
It is too bad that Tupac is not around to show the new guys what sounds good.
He didn't copy other songs like so many rappers today, too many fans think these new rappers create a song as original, it is just a re-sampled song from some previous band.
And such a shame how his life was ended, the gangs need to find better influences and the family needs to take more responsibility for their children. The schools cannot rear children it must come from some adult whether mother, father, guardian or other, not a teacher. If you create a life you take responsibility for their lives and to make sure your offspring are brought up the right way.
Rich
