“I never met him, but Jay-Z is a mentor of mine,” Gonzalez recently told Vibe.com. “I’ve watched him grow as a hustler and I’m a hustler too. I taught myself the real estate business and made money with it. That became my hustle. If you like money and getting money, my book is for you.” Raised in the streets of South Florida, Gonzalez had an uncle (Castor Gonzalez), who at the time was one of the most prolific narcotic traffickers, netting close to $300 million. In 1994 after graduating from high school, Gonzalez quickly fell in love with the hustling lifestyle to the point where he dropped out of Florida Atlantic University to get rich out on the streets. The plan backfired. Gonzalez was arrested and imprisoned in 2000. right After the short prison bid, Gonzalez headed over to a bookstore and taught himself the ins and outs of real estate. He delved into the market and today owns a shopping center and over 25 residential and commercial units. His book, The Soul of a Hustla – The Ultimate How-To Book for Using Your Mind To Make a Fortune, shows young adults in the hip hop community how they too can play the real estate game. “I want this book to empower young people in the hip hop community,” Gonzalez said. “Anyone is capable of being the best at their respective hustle, whether it’s real estate or something else. You can be the very best at what you do. That’s the hustler’s mentality.” The Soul of a Hustla – The Ultimate How-To Book for Using Your Mind To Make a Fortune is available now.
