The unseen footage was supposed to be part of the proposed 10-episode third season, but
Comedy Central decided to use it for three episodes when Chappelle abruptly quit in April 2005. Filming for the footage that viewers will see in the
Lost Episodes began in 2004.
In a preview of the
Lost Episodes on
Comedy Central’s website, Chappelle mocks his fame and fortune in a parody skit of
MTV Cribs.
“What’s up
MTV? Come on in you broke motherfu*****. See how I’m living,” Chappelle says to welcome the cameras to his crib in the skit. “What you’re stepping on is a marble foyer that was cut out of none other than
Space Mountain. Very rare, like this coat – white panda.
Hulk Hogan choked one out for me in China for my birthday. It’s reversible. This side is bald eagle.”
Later in the skit, Chappelle brushes off other high-profile celebrities, who own a large shoe closet in their crib. Instead, Chappelle reveals his very own sweatshop within his crib.
right Chappelle Show co-stars Charlie Murphy and Donnell Rawlings will serve as the guest hosts of the Lost Episodes.
“Yea, me and Charlie Murphy are guest hosting. July 9th, it’s on and popping,” Rawlings exclusively told Vibe.com last week. “It’s awesome. A lot of time when someone’s the star of the show, they don’t really let the co-stars shine, but Chappelle let us really express our comedic ability. I respect him a lot.”
In April 2005, Chappelle fled to South Africa just a month before his show’s third season was scheduled to begin. Earlier this year, he told Oprah Winfrey that creative interference was the main reason he walked away from the show.
The three Chappelle Lost Episodes will be released on DVD July 25.
