Spike Lee to Develop New NBC Drama Series

Although the details of Lee’s exact role in the project haven’t been announced as of yet, NBC is happy to have the famous filmmaker on board. In fact, Reuters reports that NBC approached Lee about the drama series in May, shortly after he directed the pilot for the impending CBS drama series, Shark. NBC is currently searching for a writer to pen the project, which Lee will develop. right Lee’s HBO documentary about Hurricane Katrina, When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts, is scheduled to premiere in New Orleans on Aug. 16. Lee’s film credits include Malcolm X, Do The Right Thing, 25th Hour and the recent Inside Man. He has also filmed the one-man television show, Freak, for actor/comedian John Leguizamo.
