Unheard Jimi Hendrix Track Up For Bid
A never-before-released recording from the legendary guitarist, Jimi Hendrix, unearthed in '94 by its since deceased co-composer, Jerry Simon, will be auctioned off in New York on Oct. 26. Prepare to hock the family jewels, and maybe a useless family member.
“Station Break,” a track recorded 40 years ago, was one of a batch of songs recorded during a studio session at New York's Allegro Sound Studios in 1966, along with previously released instrumentals like “I'm A Fool For You” and “No Such Animal.”
right “There was really no explanation why it was never released. I think it just got lost,” Wendy Chou told E! Online. According to Chou, spokeswoman for Ocean Torno LLC, a merchant bank that handles intellectual property assets, the track was discovered in a closet in Woodstock, NY, where Simon resided.
“It just slipped through the cracks,” Chou stated.
The reel-to-reel tape will be sold as part of a property auction held by Ocean Torno. The winner will also be allowed to digitally remaster the recording and collect on half of all earnings acquired from future licensing agreements. Half of the proceeds from the auction will go to the Hendrix estate.
