Former Member of British R&B Group Mis-Teeq Goes Solo

“[My album] involves reggae, funk, soul and pop and it really is a musical journey of my personality,” said Dixon, who’s first single called “Lipstick” is a representation of her new sound, totally different from her R&B roots with Mis-Teeq. “I'm taking it back to the old school, the days of funk when it was about the raw musical energy.” left Alesha, 27, left Mis-Teeq after seven top ten singles in the U.K., in 2005, in order to pursue a solo career. Dixon told television reporters that industry executives always considered her the member of the band who would have the most success as a solo artist. Although, the girl group front woman admitted she enjoyed her time in the group, and has a great relationship with her former group members. "I was listening to a compilation CD that a fan had put together of lots of different live shows that we had done and it brings back all those exciting feelings again and the buzz and my hair on my arm stands up,” said Dixon, who’s first single off her album is called “Lipstick.
