The rapper, along with United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan and MTV President Christina Norman, will make an appearance at the UN tomorrow, August 9, where they will announce a new joint venture aimed at encouraging youth to be more active in addressing global issues.
right One such issue is the world’s water crisis—something that Jay-Z witnessed first hand when he appeared in a soon-to-be-released documentary about the topic. According to statistics, 1.2 billion people do not have access to sanitary drinking water, making water-related diseases the leading cause of death in the world and the reason for about 80% of sicknesses world-wide.
A release date for the documentary, along with other details about the initiative, will be announced tomorrow at the conference.
Earlier this summer, fellow hip hop honcho Russell Simmons also spoke at the UN as the keynote speaker at the 7th Annual New York City Model UN Conference.
