Ciara Continues Her “Evolution” with New Album

As the title indicates, Ciara's new album aims to demonstrate her growth as a singer, songwriter, producer and performer, which will hopefully stop observers from solely associating her with her breakout single, Goodies. left “When ‘Goodies’ came out, people labeled me the ‘Princess of Crunk ‘N B,’ but that was just one song, one sound,” Ciara says. “For this album, I took my inspiration from many different influences and the sound really reflects that.” That sound is provided by a laundry list of big-name producers. Rodney Jerkins, Pharrell Williams, Will.i.Am of the Black Eyed Peas and Lil Jon all contributed beats to the project. Still, the biggest source of creativity on the album came from Ciara herself. On top of writing/co-writing every song on The Evolution, she also co-produced almost every track. By providing her own input, Ciara says the dance numbers she’s known for will also give fans a glimpse into her personality. “The world loves to dance, so I wanted to give them music to dance to,” she says. “But at the same time, the message is so much stronger. This time around, I’m taking people into my world and letting them see more of who I truly am.” The Evolution hits stores December 5, and the album's first single, “Promise” hits radio October 16.
