Hip Hop Summit Action Network Announces Dates For ‘Get Your Money Right’ National Tour
The non-profit group has announced that it will convene its Hip Hop Summit on Financial Empowerment at Morris Brown College’s Atlanta University Center later this month. The event, entitled the “Get Your Money Right” National Tour, was formed with the hopes of engaging young people in discussions about the importance of personal finance.
left Topics such as banking, repairing bad credit and understanding credit scores, home ownership, entrepreneurship and vehicle financing will all be discussed during the conference.
Hip Hop Summit Action Network Chairman Russell Simmons will be in attendance to host the event along with Jermaine Dupri and Ludacris. Other members of the hip hop industry will be present as well, including artists such as Paul Wall, Young Jeezy, Remy Ma, Bobby Valentino, and Chingo Bling, along with industry professionals like Co-CEO of Disturbing Tha Peace Chaka Zulu and Def Jam Head of A&R Shakir Stewart.
"Joining with Jermaine Dupri and Ludacris to host the Atlanta Hip Hop Summit is a special blessing," said Russell Simmons in a release. "This city is known for its great contributions to hip hop, as well as being a center for social change in our nation and world. 'Get Your Money Right' is an opportunity for the core of our demographic—18-35 year olds—to gain invaluable information on financial empowerment."
The Hip Hop Summit Action Network was formed in 2001 by Russell Simmons as a way for hip hop artists, entertainment industry leaders, and civil rights and youth leaders to advocate positive social change using hip hop.
The “Get Your Money Right” National Tour will also make stops in Los Angeles (September 30), Dallas (October 14), and Toronto, Canada (October 28). The first event in Atlanta will be held on September 16 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Doors open to students at noon.
