FutureSex/LoveSounds topped the Billboard 200 chart this week with 684,000 copies in the U.S., outselling his solo debut, Justified, which entered the charts at No. 2 in 2002, by more than 200,000 copies. The album was also No. 1 in the U.K, Canada, Ireland, Australia, and Singapore, reports Eonline.
left Timberlake’s new album had the biggest sales week of the year by a solo artist, according to the site, and set records with the iTunes Store as the biggest pre-order album, and as the fastest-selling digital album ever, with nearly 67,000 copies sold via download.
Timberlake, along with the debut of singer/songwriter John Mayer’s “Continuum,” which entered the charts at No. 2 this week with 300,000 copies, caused Beyonce’s B’Day to slip from No. 1 to No. 3 on the charts. B’Day sold 162,000 copies this week, a 70% decrease from last week when her sales figures were a little over 540,000, reports billboard.com.
In other J.T. news, the man himself is rumored to have hooked up with Simon Le Bon of the British new wave band Duran Duran to record a song for the group’s upcoming album. Timbaland, the producer behind the chart-topping FutureSex/LoveSounds is said to be producing the track.
