The Rockworks Foundation launched the "Rockworks Showcase" on August 29, which marked the first anniversary of Katrina. The Showcase allows bands to post their best song for free, and site users will nominate four finalists. The finalists will perform live at the CMJ Music Marathon for an audience of music industry professionals. left Site are asked to pay $1 to register to vote. After paying the fee, they may nominate bands as often as they choose. Proceeds from the Rockworks Showcase will benefit Rockworks' "Gulf Coast [re]Build", which uses music and entertainment to rebuild areas after natural disasters. Right now, Rockworks is working to rebuild Forest Hills, Mississippi, a Gulf Coast community that was devastated by Katrina. Rockworks goal is to raise $1 million. The Showcase can be found at www.Rockworks.us. Have a news tip? Email us.
