Recently, Simmons has been expressing the importance of financial planning and credit stability, saying that it should be a priority for youngsters, instead of squandering money on material items. right "They don't need to just pay attention to the bling," the rap mogul told the Associated Press. "Rappers spending countless money are on television. But in real life, these artists are very responsible with their money." Simmons recruited financial advisors and hip hop artists such as Jermaine Dupri, Young Jeezy, Paul Wall, Remy Ma and Ludacris to join forces and discuss financial empowerment with a crowd of about 1,500 at Morris Brown College in Atlanta on Saturday (Sept. 16). "I want to give back to the kids who support my movement," stated Young Jeezy in a press release. "So it is important to me to work with an icon such as Russell Simmons and his Hip Hop Summit Action Network to promote financial literacy.” A 182-page booklet, half in English and half in Spanish, was given out in a gift bag to everyone who attended the summit. The book included the importance of home ownership, credit repair, entrepreneurship and vehicle financing. Have a news tip? Email us.
