D-Roc and Kaine will drop a new album, 2 Live Crew, late November, and though the title is an obvious nod to Miami bass pioneer Luke and the group he made famous, assisting Mr. Collipark in executive producing the album will be two men from up North—Wyclef Jean and Jerry “Wonda” Duplessis.
The choice to work with Clef and Duplessis may sound strange to some, but Collipark thinks they can take Ying Yang to new heights.
right “I wanted to do a Ying Yang record that takes the elements of where we come from and adds lyric melody it,” says Collipark. "Working with the Wyclef and Jerry Wonder has pushed Ying Yang Twins and our sound to a whole
other level.”
Though the Twins are interested in taking their music to a new level, they also want to pay tribute to those who paved the way.
“We're gonna take 'em back [to] 'As Nasty As They Wanna Be'" D-Roc told Billboard, in reference to 2 Live Crew’s infamous 1989 album.
Duplessis and Jean will also assist production on the album's first single, “Dangerous,” which will feature Jean.
After breaking out with 1999’s Whistle While You Twurk, the Twins released a stretch of successful albums, best known for their strip club anthems. In 2005, “Wait (The Whisper Song”) helped make United State of Atlanta Ying Yang’s second consecutive platinum LP.
