"We welcome this initiative and stress the timeliness and importance of having a Movement that is inclusive of the genius and talent of today's youth,” Dr. Ben Chavis said of the event. “Hip-Hop and popular culture yearn for conscious lyrics, music, videos and all forms of expression that give rise to the higher aspirations of today's youth." right The concert will be held at Aaron Davis Hall/Harlem Stage on the campus of City College, 135th & Convent Avenue, NYC at 7:30 p.m. and will feature three-time "Showtime at the Apollo" winner Spoken Word artist Messiah, vocalist Aisha Aakiya, Rapper-Lite S.I.N. (Something Instead of Nothing), and other celebrity artists. Developed as a new genre of music, MCM (Music With A Conscious Message) incorporates R&B, spoken work, Hip Hop, Contemporary Christian and Pop/Urban music that displays messages designed “to inspire and uplift us as a people,” said J-Harris, Co-manager of Music World Entertainment and creator of the new genre. “The MCM Concert is the beginning of a movement, for artists, executives and others in the music industry to become more conscious of what we put out there."
