The Public Enemy hype man will be releasing his first-ever solo album on October 31 via his own label, Draytown Records, and Redeye Distribution, reports billboard.com.
right “This is my first and only album ever because I want it to be a collector’s item,” Flav told the site. ‘I always wanted to do a solo album, but coming up through the years there’s been a lot of obstacles in my way that have stopped me from being able to do so.”
The new album, reportedly only contains one guest appearance: Smooth Bee of the ‘90s rap duo Nice and Smooth on the track “Baby Baby Baby.” “This is the way I want people to perceive me so I don’t have [any] collaborations,” he said.
Flav’s favorite track on the album is called “Flavor Man,” because its one where he’s playing live instruments and doing all the lead and background vocals. “I always pictured it being a big record,” he said about the song.
On the television side of things, the end of Flavor of Love 2 is drawing near. But Flav is tightlipped about whether or not he found true love with one of the remaining ladies (New York, Krazy, or Deelishis).
He does however say this: “If there’s a connection [on this season] there might not be a reason for Flavor of Love 3. I ain’t scared to do it again, but I ain’t really trying to. I want to do a talk show or something. I’m ready to spread my wings and go down other avenues. I don’t want to just stay stuck on one page ‘cause you don’t make it to the end of the book [that way].”
Reality show or not, Flav plans on staying busy. As billboard.com reports, there's even talk of a potential Public Enemy album.
“Chuck D wants to release another Public Enemy album, but I always wanted the next Public Enemy album to be done by me,” says Flav.
