The new album is the follow-up to 2004's quadruple-platinum album, Love. Angel. Music. Baby., which included the hits "Hollaback Girl" and "What You Waiting For?" among others.
left The first single from Escape is titled "Wind It Up," and it's produced by the Neptunes and directed by longtime collaborator Sophie Muller. Other contributors to the album include Akon, Tony Kanal, Nellee Hooper, Sean Garrett, Swizz Beatz, Dave Stewart and Keane's Tim Rice-Oxley.
"This album is surprisingly different than the last one," explained Stefani via a press release. "I started recording it last year before Kingston was born and it's definitely evolved over the last year. The dance sound is very 'now.' It's modern...not so retro."
Simultaneously, the Grammy-winning singer/songwriter will release Harajuku Lovers Live,compilations of shows filmed in her hometown of Anaheim, CA. The concert was also filmed by Sophie Muller.
Gwen will embark on a U.S. tour in April 2007.
