According to the Daily News, Snipes, 44, was indicted on eight counts of tax fraud and charged with failing to file returns from 1999 through 2004. He allegedly conspired with Eddie Ray Kahn and Douglas Rosile to file false refund claims based on a false argument that only income from foreign sources was subject to taxation. The multimillion-dollar refunds Snipes claimed were never paid by the government. Rosile, one of the other two men, has turned himself in after entering a not guilty plea, and the other man, Kahn, is believed to be hiding in Panama, but Snipes is no where to be found. "We've spoken to his former attorneys over the weekend," U.S. Attorney Paul Perez told the newspaper. "We presume that he knows, and of course, after this press conference he will definitely know." Snipes, who has made millions from his movies, has allegedly tried to dodge paying taxes before and lost a house to foreclosure in 2003. If convicted on all counts, Snipes could face up to 16 years in prison.
