Dupri confirmed his departure today in a statement released to the AP. "Since there are so many rumors running rampant about my position at Virgin Records, I feel that it is necessary to set the record straight," said Dupri. "I was not forced out of the company, I made a decision that it was in my best interest to leave." left While Dupri never explicitly outlined the reasons for his departure, it is widely speculated that they have something to do with the poor marketing of girlfriend Janet Jackson's new CD, 20 Y.O., which dropped September 26. The disc debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, selling 296,000 copies in its first week, but slipped to No. 9 in it's second week with only 77,000 copies, a 74% decrease. Y.O. It currently sits at No. 19.

Her contract was up (5 albums) so she had no choice but to leave. Those stupid rumors about JD living *because* Janet's album didn't do well is so stupid.
