Pac’s Life, which will feature unreleased recordings and a slew of guest appearances, will be released by Amaru/Interscope. Featured artists will include Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, T.I. and Lil’ Scrappy. Producers on the project will include LT Hutton, Sha Money XL, Swizz Beats and others.
right Afeni Shakur, Pac’s mother and founder of the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation, is excited to see her son’s legacy continue with Pac’s Life.
"I say it every time, that Tupac left us the blueprints to follow, and
without the amazing contributions made by everyone of these artists,
producers, musicians, everyone, I do not know how I would get this great task accomplished," she says. Ms. Shakur will also co-executive produce the project.
Afeni Shakur must also have an eye toward commerce, for posthumous Tupac albums have been very successful. Five Pac albums released after his 1996 death have charted in both the pop and R&B Top 5. His greatest hits compilation has been certified nine-times platinum and is approaching diamond status.
Listeners may find many of these songs familiar, as much of Tupac’s unreleased catalog was bootlegged shortly after his death. Pac’s Life, a take off Prince’s 1985 Pop Life, hit the streets in 1997.
