"It feels good and it was fun,” explained Ne-Yo - who also made a cameo in the film - during an exclusive Vibe.com interview. “I was a little skeptical of my ability until I was explained what it entailed.”
left Save The Last Dance 2, a sequel to the original which starred Julia Styles, Sean Patrick Thomas, Kerry Washington, and Fredo Starr, is about a young woman named Sara (Izabella Miko) who follows her dreams by becoming a student at Julliard, except she is torn between her love for traditional ballet, her passion for the hip hop, and a new love interest.
"There’s many genres of music on this album,” explained Ne-Yo. “The classical style in which a ballerina would dance to as well as the hip hop sounds for a street dancer is what we are trying to personify with the music on the soundtrack.”
Along with being responsible for overseeing the entire album, Ne-Yo composed five of eleven tracks, including a ballad with Joe and Ruben Studdard.
"I think Joe is amazing and I look-up to his songwriting and vocal ability,” stated Ne-Yo. “It was a real honor and pleasure to work with him. He’s an artist that did what I’m trying to achieve successfully."
As far as the track itself, Neyo describes it as “ one of those riding songs. It makes you just want to find a large body of water a drive along side it.”
The movie premiered on MTV and was released October 10th on DVD. The soundtrack will drop on November 7th 2006 and includes music from Rihanna and T-pain as well.
