The box office calculated approximately $400,000 in refund requests for the show, according to The New York Post. Refunds are usually granted whenever a big-name celebrity bails on a production. right Theater-goers can either request their money back or exchange their tickets for another performance. Due to his illness, Usher was unable to complete the rest of his scheduled performances, which were to end on Saturday, Oct. 14. But despite his early exit, Usher's run as Billy Flynn was a certified success. The singer's star power earned Chicago backers about $1.7 million, reports the paper. And the producers of the show are glowing with praise. "The entire Chicago company is sending their thoughts and best wishes to Usher for a quick and speedy recovery," said Chicago producer Barry Weissler in a statement. "Usher made a spectacular Broadway debut, bringing a great dedication, work ethic and his amazing talent to the show. We all hope that he might return at some point for the many fans that were unable to see his wonderful performance as Billy Flynn. Usher has found a new home on Broadway and is welcomed back anytime."
