Councilmen Request Block Be Named After Gerald Levert
left The paper reports that councilmen Kevin Conwell and Joe Cimperman will introduce a resolution Monday to designate East 25th Street between Superior and St. Clair avenues as Gerald Levert Lane. Levert, a great soul singer and son of legendary singer Eddie Levert, died at his Cleveland area home last week.
The block was chosen because of its proximity to Cleveland’s Radio One stations, which frequently played Levert’s songs. The area has had lots of visitors since Levert’s passing, teeming with those wishing to pay homage to the late singer.
The Tom Joyner Morning Show, which featured a call from Levert the day he died, will air from Cleveland on Friday. November’s Sky Show, scheduled for the same day in Greensboro, N.C., will go on as scheduled.

Gerald has said "Click a Glass for the times we had - cherish good memories and throw away the bad..." And so it is with a heavy heart that I remember the joy Gerald brought to me and still brings to me. I remember driving out of town to see him, seeing him at every in town concert and enjoying feeling like he wasn't singing to anyone but me. So.. what a blessing to have you and what a blessing for you to have such a passion that you shared with us all. You touched so many and God has given you your reward. I love you always...

I always admired everything that you did. It was a very big shock as well as a disapointment to here that we will never hear something new from you again. I know that you are being loved and touching those in heaven, just like you touched us, here on earth. To the Levert family, I know from experence how hard it is to admite that you have lost someone that is dear to you, and you wonder day by day how you will live without them. I found that it is just a little bit easy to live day by day in their memories and sprit. And to continue to carry his name as if he was still with you. Gerald Levert is a leagend, always has and always will be in our hearts.

A loss for your family, is a loss for a vast number of music fans all over the world. How many unsung unwritten songs, we will never know. God bless you for raising such a tremdously gifted,and rarely talented kind hearted , compassioned ,and by all accounts loyal, loving person.
