Cuba Gooding, Sr. to Rebuild Homes Across America
right The lead singer from the R&B group Main Ingredient has partnered with developer James T. Webb to rebuild blighted inner city and rural communities across the country. Homebuyers will then be able to purchase places in the neighborhoods at affordable prices. Gooding specifically wants to rebuild homes in North Carolina, Mississippi and Louisiana.
If nothing else, Gooding is passionate about his cause. “Our goal is [to] build properties affordable so that inner-city families can share in the pride of owning their homes,” he says. “Because of redlining and high predatory interest rates, many familes in inner-city America are denied the opportunity to have a house to call home. We want to change that!”
Webb has worked to rebuild various communities in North Carolina. A native North Carolinian, Webb purchased and restored many blighted properties—often from drug dealers—around the city of Rocky Mount.
Gooding’s group, the Main Ingredient, is best known for their classic “Everybody Plays the Fool.” Gooding is also known as the father of actors Cuba Jr. and Omar.
