Diddy Responds to HSUS Fur Accusations

"I was completely unaware of the nature of this material, but as soon as we were alerted, the garments were pulled off the Macy's floor and website," Diddy said via a statement. "I have instructed our outwear licensee to cease the production of any garments using this material immediately. I appreciate the tireless work that the Humane Society does and would like to thank them for bringing attention to this issue." The Fur Products Labeling Act prohibits the advertising or sale of any fur product that is falsely or misleadingly labeled, and authorizes the Federal Trade Commission to seek criminal penalties, impose fines of up to $5,000 per violation and to seize mislabeled products. The HSUS is also calling on Congress to amend the Dog and Cat Protection Act – which bans the sale of dog or cat fur in the United States – to include raccoon dog, since the animals are so inhumanely killed and the species is similar to domesticated dogs. Raccoon dogs are indigenous to Asia, including eastern Siberia and Japan, and are sometimes called Asiatic raccoons, Finn raccoons, or tanuki. The accusation came at the heel of Diddy and girlfriend Kim Porter giving birth to a set of twin girls last week, who were named after Diddy's and Porter's grandmothers.

People are disgusting to think wearing someone's corpse looks good..

To the individual who said "if you don't like it, don't buy it": If I don't buy it, it doesn't mean that animals are no longer dying. As long as others are suffering and dying I will work to stop it. Just because I'm not a part of the suffering doesn't mean it's no longer happening.

This is a fashion industry-wide problem. Other clothing lines from Calvin Klein, Max Mara, and Baby Phat are among many that are affected by this. If you think the head of every clothing line knows this level of detail when it comes to certain things like materials, you don’t know much about the fashion industry. It’s completely plausible that Diddy was unaware and since the affected clothing has been recalled why boycott?
