In Ya Face Records, in conjunction with Universal, introduces Vida to the world as a singer/rapper as the cameras travel with her to the recording studio, photo shoots and other behind-the-scenes events. Cuban-born Guerra, whose name literally translates into "Life War", fled the island with her parents and brother in search of political refuge at the age of five, and relocated to New Jersey. "It was a struggle. We just left with the clothes we had on our backs, we didn't have any money," says Vida of the escape. Inspired by the events, Vida hopes to one day start a foundation to help those who leave their country seeking political freedom as she and her family did. Vida exploded onto the modeling scene in 2002, following a lingerie spread in FHM Magazine, which came as a shock to her semi-traditional parents. "They always wanted me to go to school because they never thought this could happen, but now my father is my biggest fan," Vida says. Vida continued to gain celebrity when X-rated pictures of her were released to the public in April of 2005. Although some say this was a publicity stunt, Vida stands by the claim that the pics were hacked from an online server and posted for the world to see. Whatever the case, the incident prompted Vida to accept playboy's third offer to grace their July 2006 cover, nude. "I don't think anything has been negative," says Vida. "Everything I do is very artistic, but people are entitled to their own opinion." As for her personal life she does admit, “it takes a real strong guy and somebody that's secure. I am really a good girl and I am true and faithful to my man." Still very excited about this year's DVD and her upcoming 2007 self-titled album release, whose first single is in collaboration with rapper Juvenile, her advice to young people everywhere is to "believe in yourselves and if you really want something bad enough don't even put a negative thought in your head because it can happen, it happened to me."
