Gillie da Kid out on bail; manager speaks to VIBE.com.

Just two months ago, Philadelphia rapper Gillie Da Kid seemed ready to explode. Fresh off a very public beef with former Cash Money colleague Lil' Wayne, the rapper was meeting with the likes of 50 Cent and sorting through major label offers. But last month he took a heavy-duty drug collar. Philly cops allegedly busted Gillie with a big ol' pile of pot. Now he's out on $60,000 bail and awaiting an April 30 preliminary hearing. His manager Yanna B. claims that label interest in him wasn't dried up by the arrest. "There were two labels that came to meet us at the spot where we were taking Gillie to get something to eat right after he got out of jail, she says. "The one label w're trying to finalize a situation with - they certainly haven’t been reluctant [since the arrest]." One of Gillie's supporters was none other than 50 Cent, who reached out to Gillie with support after the arrest, though Yanna declines to say in what capacity. "I'm confident that Gillie's gonna be found innocent of all charges, and we're just moving forward," she says. "We have a mixtape album out in the stores ("The Best of the GDK Mixtapes") and we're just going." According to court records, Philly police working from a tip spotted Philly cops carrying a pair of three-by-three, taped boxes to a house in the 1100 block of Passmore St. in Northeast Philadelphia. Those boxes were allegedly later found to contain 89 pounds of marijuana worth $374K on the street. Police followed the rapper and the packages, ultimately arresting five people and recovering not only the pot but 16 grams of PCP and paraphernalia associated with drug packaging. Though the police report lists Gillie's real name as Nasir Far D, Yanna says it is Far'd Nasir. On the police report his age is listed as 30 years old and he declares himself a music producer, earning $600 bi-weekly. Maybe 50 can help him with that.
